Celebrate your perseverance

Work Smart Show blog.

You all know the song, “It’s a hardknock life” and it’s very true. We all have times where we get knocked off our path, our plans go awry, our life gets out of control. The remarkable thing that I find in every biography I read is that the only thing that makes most of these people remarkable is their repeated perseverance. In short, the way they responded to adversity, even extreme adversity is what sets them apart from all others.

Now I have no right to claim any particular hardship and I’m not but here I am again blogging after an absence instituted by life around me. And yes I could have continued through if I had had the drive and inclination but I think we need to recognize the success in ourselves when we get back up again.

Often we do things that are so pedestrian that we forget to celebrate, I have returned to blogging when I could have kept watching Narcos on Netflix. You may have returned to work after a absence or ill health. You may be talking to your partner again after big fight. They may not sound like reasons to celebrate but if you have stuck things out, got back up again we need to celebrate that.

Take the time now to celebrate even small things for yourself as no one else will do this for you. We are responsible for our own success and if you have stayed on the path to success, taken a small step forward or just rediscovered the path then celebrate.
